Mercer Island Residence
Mercer Island, WA
Architect: Sullivan Conard Architects
With sweeping waterfront views, this 12,000sq/ft French country style residence was a definitive lighting challenge that required knowledge, expertise and artistic sensitivity from our design team. Working closely with the architect, interior designer, and client, SLG developed a multi-layered lighting concept that was warm, inviting, and harmonized well with the interior decor. For proper light quantity and accent purposes in the family room with a high ceiling and structural collar ties, small accent fixtures were positioned between the beams for concealment. The ambient layer of light, which is vitally important in residential lighting, was maximized throughout by careful location of chandeliers, ceiling jewels, and wall sconces. Recessed low-volt lighting instruments fitted with special lenses and lamps were used to highlight the owner's extensive art collection. A user friendly dimming system controlled the entire lighting composition, both inside and outside of the residence.
