Normandy Residence
Normandy Park, WA
Architect: Thomas Harle Architects
Comprised of single level plan with high interior coffered ceilings, this waterfront home offered many unique opportunities for beautification through advanced illumination techniques. The main living space is supported by rhythmically spaced columns with arches connecting the coffered ceiling sections. By using specialized strip lighting concealed behind crown valences, SLG evolved the column capitals into individual lighting statements which accentuate the beauty and rhythm inherent in the architect's design and contribute significantly to the ambient layer of light so necessary in residential environments. The master bath vanity received special treatment in that all vanity light came from a dimmable light source located behind the mirror but passing through a frosted glass strip on the mirror surface. At the entry portico, a custom chandelier was designed to suit the client's tastes.
