Redmond Bluff Residence
Redmond, WA
Architect: Rex Hohlbein Architects
At the end of a long day, this Redmond couple and their family can withdraw to a home serenely connected to nature through refined architecture and lighting that complements the multiple uses of the interior spaces and pampers its inhabitants. Since natural materials are used throughout home, the lighting needed to be unobtrusive yet powerful enough to compensate for the darker stain of the interior wood finishes and lofty ceiling planes of the upper floor. Adjustable low-volt 2-circuit track lighting was placed between the ceiling purlins on the upper level for concealment and fitted with special lenses and lamps depending on their task. Throughout the residence, the finishes for the decorative ceiling lights and sconces were chosen to interplay with the natural materials.
