Ashley Lake, Montana
Architect: The 4K's Ken Kunishima (CA) Ken Williams (MT)
Nestled near a remote Montana lake, this vacation home is a place of quiet relaxation and reflection for a California client with a passion for photography. Fine wood, cathedral ceiling planes and the texture of stone became the lighting palette for this design. Working closely with the Montana architect, a method was devised to completely conceal the wiring in the roof sandwich structure for the monopoint accent fixtures and also allow the wiring for the beam uplights to go unnoticed. The hall wall sconces were specially chosen for their dual purpose – uplight the beautiful ceiling structure and provide a little downwash for small photos that were displayed directly below each sconce. Finally, all lighting control in the main rooms was via a dedicated scene control for each room.
